Modesto is located in the Central Valley of California. We are a city with a great sense of community and compassion, geographically centred in an area rich with agriculture. It is the home of the annual “Graffiti Night” event, when thousands of classic car aficionados parade their hot rods through town. There is also a thriving arts scene, with monthly showcases for visual artists through the downtown “Art Walk”. The Gallo Center for the Arts, also located downtown, hosts concerts and performances from a wide range of artists.

Modesto is also conveniently close to a number of well-known California tourist attractions. San Francisco is about a 1.5 hour drive west. The beaches of San Jose and Santa Cruz are also about an hour and a half away. Then there are the tall redwood forests of Samuel Taylor and Big Trees parks, also a relatively short drive away. And of course there is the world-renowned Yosemite National Park, featuring the mighty Half Dome, which is also not far from us. We regularly take visitors on day trips to each of these places.

Modesto is a city with a great number of people experiencing homelessness, and there are many people and organizations working to bless the poor of their city, while striving to make positive changes in the areas of the arts, local politics, and business.
